They Sing As They Climb

The children on the playground say there's truth that's spinning it
express mercy to a world in dire need of it
You don't know where to turn so just keep on turning it

The squirrels in the trees, well, they're out there barking it
"We're up here and you're down there and there's no denying it"
Just leap off from the edge and let 'em all stand in awe of it

And all the children sing as they climb
"You haven't bought in for this in a long, long time"
The ladder's cracked and broken but they say "that's alright
Because when it's time, it's time"
They sing as they climb

They sing as they climb

No more tears now for we've had our fill of it
you can only die once and, boy, now ain't the time for it
Just swing out on the bars and swing out over it

The playground floods, the children laugh, they're not the least protective of it
They'll sing their songs all day long and come out the better for it
Just breathe the fresh air for that might be the point of it
to give mercy to a world in dire need of it
